About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This position plays a critical role in the design and development of complex vehicle systems and fabricated components that support mission-critical applications.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background, extensive experience with SolidWorks, and the ability to independently manage multiple design projects while collaborating with manufacturing and production teams.


Position Summary

The Design Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining 2D and 3D models, engineering drawings, and vehicle assembly layouts. This role requires the ability to solve complex design challenges, support manufacturing operations, and implement engineering improvements that enhance product performance, quality, and production efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design metal fabricated parts and assemblies using SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
  • Develop complete vehicle models and engineering documentation for production teams.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Manage engineering files using Product Data Management (PDM) systems and ERP software.
  • Coordinate multiple projects with varying priorities and deadlines.
  • Collaborate closely with production personnel to review designs and resolve manufacturing concerns.
  • Process and implement Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) for product modifications and improvements.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufactured and purchased components.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through design optimization and enhanced manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure designs meet quality, performance, and manufacturability requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering or related experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks.
  • Experience working with PDM and ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience designing fabricated metal components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production environments.
  • Experience supporting engineering change management processes.
  • Familiarity with documentation control and product lifecycle management systems.
